Tulobuterol Hydrochloride
Indications
Bronchodilator, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Short-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor stimulants
Pharmacology
Tulobuterol is a direct-acting sympathomimetic with selective action on β2-receptors. It is available orally, as a inhaler and as a transdermal patch. It is given as the hydrochloride by mouth and the base as transdermal formulation and inhalation.
Dosage & Administration
Bronchodilator:
- Adult: Initially, 1-2 mg bid, increase to 2 mg tid if necessary.
- Child: 1-6 yr: 0.25-0.5 mg bid, 6-10 yr: 0.5-1 mg bid, 10-14 yr: 1-1.5 mg bid.
Interaction
Increased risk of arrhythmia with digoxin. Hypokalaemia with concomitant admin of xanthines, corticosteroids and diuretics.
Contraindications
Phaeochromocytoma.
Side Effects
Fine tremor of skeletal muscle, palpitations, muscle cramps, tachycardia, nervous tension, headache, peripheral vasodilatation, hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions
Hyperthyroidism, myocardial insufficiency, arrhythmias, susceptibility to QT-interval prolongation, hypertension and DM.
